Elevate your style with the Handmade Snowflake Obsidian Silver Necklace, a unique piece that brings nature's beauty to your wardrobe.

A bold oval snowflake obsidian set by hand in recycled silver.

The black obsidian stone is scattered with natural pale cristobalite crystals, giving each area of the surface its own patterns. Obsidian has historically been shaped into cutting tools and ornaments by ancient cultures because it fractures to form an exceptionally sharp edge.

Although obsidian itself is not native to Scotland, its dark, glass-like surface recalls Scottish pitchstone, a related volcanic material worked during the Stone and Bronze Ages. That archaeological connection gives this necklace the feeling of an old-world relic.

It is sometimes known as the “Stone of Purity”, and as a grounding stone, is said to bring focus in times of instability.

Its strong contrast makes this a striking necklace, while the simple silver setting keeps the design easy to wear.

The pendant has been made in my Liverpool workshop and finished with a polished bezel that frames the stone without distracting from it. It sits on a silver chain and works well worn alone over a plain top, knitwear or a darker neckline.

Part of the Core Collection, this necklace is designed to offer a simpler way into my handmade gemstone jewellery while retaining the individuality of a piece made by hand.
